This course aims to develop students‘ listening ability. Students will watch and listen to actual TV programs at natural speed in order to get accustomed to phonological changes, rhythms, and the pitch and intonation of natural spoken
English. Students will also learn phrases and expressions typically found in broadcast English. Students will listen to interviews/reports from news, talk, and entertainment programs – and engage in discussions by using critical thinking to analyze, synthesize and express opinions on the information presented in the programs. The ultimate goal is to develop students‘ listening ability so that they can grasp the outline and the main point of the broadcast and pick out the necessary information.
